    MANAGING DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

    Deb has always worked in the furniture industry, as a co-owner of a retail chain, a local manufacturer and designer .

    While selling new furniture, Deb observed the constant issue of what to do with the furniture that was being replaced. She often become personally involved in rehoming used furniture that was in perfect condition. She was becoming more aware of the enormous social issue that is furniture waste.

    At the age of 54, Deb decided to do an Arts degree. She has always been an avid artist/crafter/maker so it was a perfect next stesp to combine her passion for furniture waste reduction with her creative skills to venture into furniture upcycling. In 2021, Deb established a store/studio in Summer Hill where she continues to live by her passions and philosophies.

  • Julia Hill

    CHAIRPERSON

    Julia is a seasoned professional and board member, specializing in the not-for-profit sector.

    With a background as a research scientist, Julia has dedicated the past 25 years to translating scientific breakthroughs into innovative medical therapies. Currently, she serves as the Director of Business Development at ProCan, Children's Medical Research Institute in Westmead, and also holds the position of Non-Executive Director at BioNSW.

    Outside of her professional commitments, Julia finds joy in creative pursuits including upcycling furniture. As a champion of social justice, she actively supports equal rights and strives to cultivate a fair and equitable society for all. Her passion for environmental conservation is evident in her advocacy for sustainable practices, both in her personal life and within her professional endeavors.

  • Bec Hill

    TREASURER

    As a learning and development specialist, Bec is skilled in the design and delivery of training curriculum. She is currently working for a fortune 500 company in the finance industry.

    Bec joined the board in support of her Mum Deb's vision; to reduce furniture waste and provide a safe space and creative outlet for those seeking to establish a new home and build relationships. Bec is passionate about bringing people together to create sense of belonging within the local community. She regularly hosts open events such as live music and trivia nights. She is currently leading the events workstream for her company's PRIDE network. Her mission is to have all colleagues feel a sense of belonging through embracing diversity.

    Bec celebrates being able to bring her learning and development skills to life for the volunteers and community.
